Connecting the Laptop to the SMART Board

The SMART Board laptop is stored in the cabinet in Room 136.  Circulation has the key to the cabinet and can schedule the room.

1.    Turn on the plasma screen using the Sony PFM Remote: When the screen is off, it is in “STANDBY” mode as indicated by a red light at the right bottom side

       of the screen. Using the remote control, push the ON button. The “STANDBY” light should go out and a green “ON” light should appear.

2.    Check the Sound: The amplifier is the black box on top of the DVD/VHS player. Push the power ON button. A light should appear indicating unit is on. The

       volume control is the large knob on the amplifier.

3.    Turn the DVD/VHS player ON.  The correct channel setting is L1.

4.    Connect the laptop power adaptor, network cable, video adaptor and USB cable to the laptop.

5.    Turn on the laptop and login using your Cougars user name and password.

6.    Select INPUT 1/RGB on the Sony PFM Remote.

7.    Press FN F8 simultaneously to toggle the screen until it displays on both the laptop and the SMART board.

8.    Orient the SMART board.

Shutting Down the System

1.    Disconnect the laptop power adaptor, network cable, video adaptor and USB cable.

2.    Turn plasma screen to “STANDBY” using the Sony PFM Remote.

3.    Turn off amplifier by pushing power button.

4.    Turn off DVD/VHS player by pushing power button.

5.    Make sure that both remote control devices (for screen and player) are sitting on top of the amplifier.

6.    Lock room when you leave.

7.    Return the keys to Circulation.
