Using Pidgin Instant Messenger at the Research/ Information Desk

Things to Note:

• Be aware of concurrent IM transactions (like 2 or more IMs coming through the widget on the homepage) .  They will show up in same Pidgin IM window with a tab for each individual transaction.  Please keep watch of multiple tabs when you are answering IMs and click on any and all tabs you see to make sure you are responding to all the patrons asking questions at the time.

  

   

• Those of you who use Remote Desktop, please don't set the remote desktop window at maximum size or full screen because this sometimes prevents the Pidgin IM window from popping up in a noticeable way. Just keep your remote desktop window at something less than maximum.
